Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports follow  the Prime Minister's policy to develop Betong as a sport tourism model by developing international level sports event "Amazean Jungle Trail".  This is aimed to create a new source of income for the southern border provinces.

The purpose of this event is to promote the image of Betong city and develop Betong tourism city in terms of sports and to the international level. It is aim to be a new destination for trail running athletes from around the world to travel to Betong and to join the competition.  This will improve economic value to the southern border provinces.  This project will also aim that Amazean Jungle Trail will be one of the world's leading international trail running events in the future.

This Amazean Jungle Trail will be zero edition of “By UTMB” event which will be qualified to the “BY UTMB” first edition and a World Series race.  If successful it will be the 2nd World Series race following the first race Thailand by UTMB in Chiang Mai Province.  The event will be held during May 6-8, 2022 at Betong Mongkhonrit Tunnel, Betong District, Yala Province. There are 3 race distances: Betong 100K, Betong 50K, Betong 25K.
